Located in western Mozambique’s Tete Province, just northeast of Tete City, Moatize serves as a vital economic engine for the region. Positioned along the eastern bank of the Zambezi River valley, the town is built upon one of the largest untapped coal basins in the world. This immense resource wealth has transformed Moatize from a quiet inland settlement into a bustling industrial hub. International investment, major mining operations, and critical transport networks—such as the Sena and Nacala rail lines—connect this inland town directly to the global energy market.
Moatize: The Industrial Heart of Tete
On a national level, Mozambique has made significant strides in expanding access to basic education, yet translating classroom enrollment into lasting academic success remains a major challenge. While primary school attendance has grown, severe resources constraints, overcrowded classrooms, and high dropout rates—especially as students transition to secondary school—often stall progress.
